We are proud to announce that Dmitri Vinnikov, who is currently leading the IEEE Estonia Section forward as Section Chair, has been elevated to the grade of IEEE Fellow (class of 2023) in recognition of his outstanding professional contributions to the design of impedance-source converters.
Dmitri Vinnikov is the first scientist in TalTech (Tallinn University of Technology), as well as in the whole of Estonia, who reached this important recognition. His Fellow nomination was presented by the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society recognizing many years of volunteering and leadership.

The IEEE Xtreme 16.0 programming competition has concluded. One of the Estonian teams — team KalaPyygiSeadus from University of Tartu — has made it into the top 12 teams globally amassing a total of 1926.53 points! Congratulations to the team for achieving this remarkable result!
The top three teams from Estonia are KalaPyygiSeadus (Univ. of Tartu, 1st place locally, 12 place globally), BubblegumBitset (Univ. of Tartu, 2nd place locally, 29 place globally), and porgand (Tallinn Univ. of Technology, 3rd place locally, 48 place globally). We are very happy for the teams!

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our dear colleague Vello Kukk on June 30, 2022. Vello was the founding member of IEEE Estonia Section established in 2006. His contributions to the development of IEEE in Estonia are immesaurable. We remain forever grateful to Vello for all that he has done throughout the years for the community.

Recently, elections were held for some Officer positions within IEEE Estonia. We would like to congratulate the following newly elected volunteers:
- Tartu SB Chair : Junming Ke -3 (100%) votes with 13% voter turnout
- Taltech SB counselor: Omar Abdelghafou – 8 (100%) votes with 11% voter turnout
We would like to wish best of luck to Tartu SB on the occasion of their new leadership!

Towards increasing student engagement and supporting students activity the IEEE Estonian Section is supporting the IT faculty student council welcoming event “IT-teaduskonna rebaste ristimine” .

The website has been updated to reflect the most recent information about IEEE Estonia Section chapters and affinity groups.

The 2020 IEEE Estonia Section Board election has successfully concluded. All elected volunteers amassed more than 2/3 of votes cast. Voter turnout was 30%. Election results follow.
